Season 2010-2011 Underway
The new Cricket Season has started as of the 18th of September.
This year West Brisbane have two teams in the QSDCA competition, an A1 and a C2, and a team in the Super 20 competition.
As shown on the calendar to the right, trainings are on Tuesday nights at Dunlop Park Corinda starting at 6pm.
The calendar is also a great way to keep informed of upcoming events at the club. All match fixtures, social events and trainings will be listed on it.
If you are interested in playing cricket we are always looking for new players and will be able to find a standard which you feel comfortable in. If you would like more information please contact David Andrews, our secretary at secretary@wbcc.org.au.
Round 1
Round 1 unfortunately ended in a draw for both teams with weather getting in the way. Especially disappointing because both teams were in strong positions and looking to get a win under their belt.
For the C's they started shakily but came home strong that's to a Captain's knock of 87 from Michael Dellit taking them to a total of 185 all out. They had 13.5 overs at Redlands in the fading light and had them on the ropes at 4-53 thanks to two late wickets to Dave Johnston.
The A's didn't have as good a time with the bat. After building a solid start at 2-71 we lost quick wickets to see our middle order decimated and the team floundering on 9-103. Jack Adams and Kieren Johnston put on an additional 17 runs to see us all out for 120. Frank Modan was the standout scoring 46.
With a real challenge ahead our bowlers bowled beautifully and we had them at 4-41 at stumps. Jack Adams on debut took 2 wickets while Alex Briggs and Kieren Johnston got one a piece. Matty Thompson also bowled well but was unlucky not to have 3 chances taken off his bowling and an umpiring decision or two not go his way.
